HAVANA Inagurated at Gitam

The Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering (EECE) of GITAM School of Technology has been successfully organizing ‘HAVANA’, a two-day National Level Collegiate Technical Fest, on February 22-23, 2024. The event was inaugurated at the GITAM campus with the presence of distinguished guests from BSNL, industry, and academia on Thursday.

D.Raja Rajeswari, Principal General Manager of BSNL, Sangareddy, graced the event as the chief guest and shared valuable insights from her 20-year tenure at BSNL. She emphasized the evolution of technology from telecommunication to technical-based networks and encouraged budding engineers to seize the opportunities provided by 5G technology.

Gangadhar Gude, Founder and CEO of AtAI Labs Private Limited, stressed the importance of engineers as problem solvers and commended the innovation and entrepreneurship coming out of India. He expressed his belief that Havana will inspire more ideas and creativity among students.

Ayush Goswami, Co-Founder of Phoenix Global, highlighted the practical applications of technology and urged students to broaden their horizons by acquiring diverse skills and knowledge. He emphasized the significance of good communication and business acumen in the field of engineering.

Prof. V.Rama Sastri, Dean of Core Engineering at GITAM, announced plans to organize an annual Technical Fest on a larger scale, inviting students from across the country. He also mentioned the institution’s MoU with the Indian Navy and plans to sign an MoU with the Indian Air Force in the near future.

Prof. T.Madhavi, HoD of the EECE Department, shared plans for new programs and specializations in areas such as electrical vehicle technology, industrial automation, robotics, and more, starting from the next academic year.

M.Naresh Kumar, Convenor of the fest, extended his gratitude to all participants and sponsors. The event featured various technical competitions, including Robo race, E-Sports, and Hackathon, with over 250 students from 30 colleges participating.
